Silhouette

I LOVE my Silhouette SD diecut machine. I have had it for a couple of years and use it constantly. I have been a member of a Yahoo Group dedicated to the Silhouette for awhile and was recently asked to become a moderator of the group. We have a ton of people willing to help with all things Silhouette. I love the group and have added a "join" on the right side of this blog if you want to join and learn how to use your silhouette or lurk about the group to see if you want to buy one or see what everyone is doing with their machines and creativity.

This is a card I made for a sketch challenge on StampTV.com. I'm not happy with the coloring but it was late, lights were low, and I was tired. :\ The leaves are punched out of colored paper. The card base is a 6" x 6" card.

Central Park Buggy

Have not done the journalling yet but this is the first page I completed for the scrapbook of my trip to New York with my two oldest daughters. This was our carriage ride through Central Park. They decided it would have been much more romantic to go with their husbands rather than their mother. LOL
Definition of Scrapbooking
scrap-book-ing n. (scrap'booking) 1. obsessive compulsive disorder consisting of pouring your grocery money and savings account into a blank book in such a way that makes the act justifiable. 2. Causes euphoria and giddiness in those afflicted. 3. Common ailment among scrapbookers for which there is no known cure.

(I got that off another blog: kclukesmom.blogspot.com)

I would add a 4. Causes a rollercoaster of emotions in friends and family due to them feeling ignored when you are scrapping to feeling happy and special when you show the pages you have completed that are all about them.

This is the finished project with my daughter's first dance picture. Thanks for all the advice.

I added a picture of Laycie in her outfit that she went to the dance in. I put a die cut tractor under the lyrics just for fun.

A couple of people suggested Dancing in the dark as the title and I liked it so that is what it is called.

They danced to Big Green Tractor by Jason Aldean so I included the lyrics. I put the lyrics on the left side of the left page. To make it cohesive I put the journalling opposite on the right side of the right page and make it look like the lyrics by putting headings.
The picture was impossible to make perfect so I did it like an Andy Worhol which made it playful. I rolled the mat to make it fun & youthful.
This is the picture inhanced as best as I could get it. I softened the edges and then stamped around to give it a fun feel.

Daughter's first dance

My 13 year old went to a school dance. Now, she has been to other school dances before but never with a "boyfriend". I had her friend that went with her take a picture of her slow dancing with her boyfriend. Now I have this grainy picture taken in a dark gym with a cell phone camera. I have NO idea how to scrap this. Any suggestions?

Birthday Card

This is a card I made for my daughter's friend's birthday. The inside says "Hope your Birthday is as Sweet as You."

This is a card I made just because. I had the ballerina ribbon and the printed paper and decided to make a ballet card. My daughter is a ballerina so I'm sure I will have an occasion to use it.

Anniversary card

My friend and her husband are celebrating their 9th anniversary which happens to be the leather anniversary. So, I did a technique to make brown paper look like leather to make this card.

Diaper Cake

My friend is having a baby boy so I made her a diaper cake. Not my ususal scrapbooking / card making but still crafty. There are two bottles in the center and I made it out of size 2 diapers so she could keep it in tact for awhile.

I finished my cards for my mother for Mother's Day. I hate that I rushed because they didn't turn out as nice as I would have liked. I am going to work on some sets to keep around for quick gifts. I used the gatefold card from Stamp tv on a few, the Stamp tv quilt card on one, and the pinwheel fromhttp://craftchaos.blogspot.com/2010/04/pinwheel-card-tutorial.html on some. I also used my new Kreate-A-Lope to make cards and envelopes to match. Most of the cards I left blank on the inside so she could personalize them and she liked that.

Here they are.

This one with the north wind blowing the leaves off the tree is her favorite. I had no idea what she would do with it but when I got started I couldn't stop. I heat embossed the tree and stickled the leaves and north wind.

Somehow I missed scanning two of them. I did one black and white with black flowers on the front and one word in each flower center that said I'm thinking of you. The other card that didn't get scanned is a card with praying hands on front and a poem of encouragement inside. On the black and white one and the happy anniversary one I used a new technique I learned. Making your own rubons. I printed the words backwards onto some over head projection paper and then rubbed the words right where I wanted them.

I am working on a project for my mother for Mother's Day. I am making her a set of greeting cards that she can send out throughout the year. This is the one I made for Thanksgiving after being inspired by a fellow scrapper and Hettys blog http://craftchaos.blogspot.com/2010/04/pinwheel-card-tutorial.html

Hopefully I will get a bunch done in a week. Ill post as I complete. Good thing my mother doesn't read my blog!

note card

I made this card for our voice teacher who is leaving at the end of the year. I used a cuttle bug music embossing folder for the yellow center and then sewed it on the brown card. Then I cut the words "Just a Note" and the music notes from my Silhouette and printed the words "To Say Thanks" on the inside. The ribbon across the card doesn't show very well in the scan. It is a wide cream ribbon with 4 narrow yellow ribbons attached to mimic the music staff.

pocket frame

Had a couple of people ask in scrap groups for a pocket type frame that can be mounted and a picture slid into the top so I created this for wallet sized pictures. It would not be hard to enlarge it to fit whatever sized picture you needed.

Just came home from Hobby Lobby with a new Inkadinkado stamp that says "You make me Smile all over my face" and had to use it right away. I also bought a new Stampabilities white ink pad since I had been wanting one so I thought "hmmmmm how can I use them both?" So, I did a black cardstock card, added silver ribbon to the side, put a frame from the Best Occasions mixed media romance pack. Stamped my stamp in the center of the frame, added some flowers cut from paper in the same Best Occasions pack. Then I pop dotted the small flower on top of the big flower in the top corner as well as the butterfly. I covered the inside of the card with a silvery white on the right and the black paper with the white flowers from the Best Occasions pack.

Garden Party

A friend of mine had a garden party this past summer and several of us attended. It was something different than we were used to and so wonderful. She had tables set with china under a tent. There was tea and punch and tons of food. I wanted the page to reflect the feeling of encouragement that was the theme of the party along with the floral theme. I am pleased with the way it turned out. I hope we all do something else along this line. It was a perfect day.

I needed a swingset to go along with this picture and couldn't find one so I made one. I hope you enjoy the file.

The tree is one from the Silhouette program RoboMaster. I just inked the grass in. I love the final look of the page.

Cheerleader

Here is a little Cheerleader GSD.

3D Rose

I made this 3D Rose on my Silhouette. I only have the GSD file because that is all I use or know how to make. I did a top layer and a bottom layer. In this example I did the bottom layer of the flowers in a darker yellow and the bottom of the leaves in black. I then chalked some highlights on the leaves and low lights on the roses. I will say that it is detailed as each layer has 20 pieces. But the final project is worth it.

My First Blog

I have no idea what I am doing or why I am doing it but everyone seems to have a blog so here goes.

In case you were wondering, "Scraptist" is Scrap Artist. Now, you may think that is very presumptuous of me but not really. I am not a artist in the sense that what I do is WOW OMG she is a wonderful artist. No, I am a scrap artist in that I try to create pages that tell the story of the pictures while being pleasing to the eye. I would say I am a minimalist scrapper. By that I mean I do fairly simple pages. Not a lot of overlapping or a lot of fullness. I do love those pages but when I do them they seem to look junky instead of beautiful. I feel that everyone has their own scrap style and I am just not a "full" scraptist, just a clean simple scraptist. I am more like the painting of a single daisy not the Mona Lisa.

I LOVE scrapping.
